Daring Escape: Suspects Flee Stolen Car Crash in Concord

Unraveling a High-Speed Chase and Daring Escape

The Crash and Initial Response

Around 3:45 p.m., Concord police received a report of a car that had crashed into a ditch on Appleton Street near Turtle Pond. A witness at the scene reported that no one was in the car, but they saw several young men fleeing the area and heading east toward Loudon Road, presuming they were involved with the crash. The vehicle, a silver Toyota Camry with Massachusetts plates, was confirmed to be stolen from Hampton, and the officer on the scene requested a K-9 unit to assist in the search.

The Unfolding Manhunt

As the search intensified, a description of the suspects emerged. Witnesses reported seeing a thin, tall white man, a Black man with dreadlocks, a Hispanic man, a man wearing a "weird" purple pointed hat, and another carrying a Hello Kitty backpack. Some were wearing red shirts, and the witnesses estimated there were at least five, possibly six, young men in their late teens. The officers expanded their search, combing through the Broken Ground Elementary School, Curtisville Road, East Side Drive, and Batchelder Mill Road areas, hoping to locate the suspects. During this time, a handgun was reportedly found inside the crashed vehicle, prompting the request for a search warrant.

Taxi Cab Sighting and Additional Suspects

Around 4:30 p.m., a taxi cab was spotted on the dirt road section of Curtisville Road, and the driver informed the officers that he had been requested to pick up six teenagers from the trail and transport them to Prospect Street. This led to the identification of a second suspect.Meanwhile, the Eastman Early Learning Center on Shawmut Street, located near the Batchelder Mill Road trail, was temporarily placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure during the search.

The Dramatic Escape and Continued Pursuit

As the search continued, witnesses began reporting sightings of young men, some without shirts, running across Interstate 393, just past Exit 2, on the eastbound side of the highway. One witness described seeing four men, one white and three Black, with one having poofy hair.Police and state troopers rushed to the area, but the suspects managed to escape into the woods near Salisbury Green. The search then expanded to East Side Drive, Northeast Village Road, and Woodcrest Heights Drive, as officers and troopers continued their pursuit.

The Final Apprehension

Around 6 p.m., the four suspects were finally detained after officers chased them along East Side Drive and Eastern Avenue. According to scanner chatter, Concord police were still searching several locations in East Concord for additional evidence, including backpacks and other items. The investigation is ongoing, and Concord NH Patch will provide updates as more information becomes available.
