A Boston man who was shot in the face during an incident that also injured two police officers appeared in court on Monday and was held pending a dangerousness hearing. Eyad Abbas, 23, of Roxbury, was identified as the suspect charged in connection with the July 18 incident near the Forest Hills MBTA Station.

Eyad Abbas, a 23-year-old resident of Roxbury, Boston, has been charged with a range of offenses, including two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, receiving a stolen vehicle, reckless operation, and operating with a suspended license. The Suffolk County District Attorney's office has scheduled a dangerousness hearing for Abbas on July 29, where the court will determine if he poses a significant threat to public safety and should be held without bail.

According to the District Attorney's office, the incident began when police officers made contact with Abbas in the area of 66 Hyde Park Avenue, after receiving a report of a stolen black BMW X7 from an auto body shop in Abington. During a brief conversation, Abbas suddenly put the car in reverse and attempted to flee, injuring the first officer who had placed his hands on the vehicle. As Abbas drove the BMW forward, a second officer was hit and thrown to the ground, suffering multiple broken bones and a large head wound. In response, the second officer fired his gun, striking Abbas in the face.

After the shooting, Abbas crashed the stolen BMW into a parked car. He appeared in court on Monday with a large facial wound, as a result of the gunshot.
