Discovering the Talents of Jackson Randolph and Cason Sledge: A Musical Journey

In a captivating showcase of musical prowess, Jackson Randolph and Cason Sledge, two rising stars in the local music scene, graced the stage of KBTX's First News at Four. Their performance and interview shed light on their individual journeys, the inspiration behind their music, and the camaraderie that fuels their collaborative efforts.

Unlocking the Melodies of Passion and Perseverance

Embracing the Rhythm of Life

Jackson Randolph's musical journey began at a young age, as he found solace and expression in the melodies of the church. Honing his skills over the years, Randolph's passion for music blossomed, leading him to explore the vibrant open mic scene. "I started playing at church when I was, you know, little and grew up doing that and found a love for it and found some open mics," he recounts, reflecting on the formative experiences that shaped his musical identity.Cason Sledge's path to music was equally influenced by his family's musical legacy. With his father as a drummer, Sledge was immersed in the world of music from an early age. "I kind of started off because my dad was a drummer. He built a little music room for us, and he had a guitar set in there all the time, and one day I kind of decided to pick it up and took off from there," he shares, highlighting the familial support that ignited his own musical journey.

Crafting Meaningful Melodies

The duo's collaborative efforts have resulted in the creation of a captivating song, "Fake I.D.," which Randolph penned shortly after moving to College Station. The song, he explains, is a reflection of the bittersweet emotions surrounding the last summer he shared with his close friends before they all went their separate ways. "It was just kind of about the last summer I had with my buddies before we all moved away. And you know, we just we wanted to have the best time we could and the short amount of time we had left with each other. So that was kind of what that was about," Randolph shares, offering a glimpse into the personal experiences that inspired the song's poignant lyrics.

Fostering a Vibrant Music Scene

Beyond their individual musical pursuits, Randolph and Sledge are actively engaged in nurturing the local music scene. Randolph, in particular, hosts an Open Mic Night every Wednesday at the Palace Theater in Bryan, providing a platform for aspiring musicians to showcase their talents and connect with the community. This initiative not only supports the growth of local artists but also contributes to the vibrant cultural landscape of the region.

Expanding Musical Horizons

The duo's musical journey extends beyond their collaborative efforts, as both Randolph and Sledge continue to explore and expand their individual artistic expressions. Randolph's album, "Empty Promises Volume 2," is a testament to his evolving musical style and the depth of his creative vision. Fans can delve into his discography to discover the full range of his musical prowess. As the interview and performance unfold, it becomes evident that Jackson Randolph and Cason Sledge are not merely musicians, but storytellers who weave their personal experiences and passions into the fabric of their music.
