Nourishing the Hungry, Uplifting the Community

Central Texas Food Bank Truck Brings Relief

The Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be making a stop at the Waldeck Lutheran Church on Saturday, July 20, from 10 to 11 a.m. This drive-thru distribution event will provide pre-boxed food to those in need, with volunteers on hand to load the boxes into each vehicle. Clients are advised to clear out their back seats, trunks, and truck beds to make room for the food.

Successful Blood Drive Saves Lives

The recent blood drive, sponsored by Martin Luther Lutheran Church and Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top, was a resounding success. Nineteen donors participated, with three being deferred. Five of the donors gave double, resulting in a total of twenty-one credited units. The community's generosity and commitment to helping others are truly commendable.

Community Dance Night Brings Folks Together

The Carmine Dance Hall was the scene of a lively Community Dance Night on June 28, where one hundred eleven people gathered to enjoy the music and dance the night away. Sound by Lathan provided the tunes, and Chick-fil-A and popcorn were served, creating a festive atmosphere for friends and relatives to come together and celebrate.

Carmine Firemen's Feast: A Delicious Tradition

The Carmine Firemen's Feast, a much-anticipated annual event, will be held on Sunday, July 21. Fried chicken plates will be served drive-thru style at the Carmine Hall from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., or until sold out. Desserts and sausage links will also be available, and a drawing will be held the same day. Donations will be accepted as payment for the meal, supporting the Carmine Volunteer Fire Department.

Cedar Creek Schuetzen Verein Holds Annual Meeting

The Cedar Creek Schuetzen Verein, a local organization, will be holding its annual meeting on July 14 at the Carmine Hall, starting at 11:30 a.m. A catered meal will follow, and attendees are encouraged to bring a dessert. The meeting will include a presentation by the Renovation Committee, recommending plans for the downstairs part of the hall, as well as other business. Those interested in joining the organization are welcome to attend.

Bingo for Seniors: Fun and Fellowship

Seniors (age 60 and older) and their guests are invited to a Bingo event on Sunday, July 14, at the Ledbetter Community Center from 2 to 4 p.m. The cost is per card, which covers 10 plus games and prizes. Chips, snacks, and drinks will be available for a freewill donation, making this a fun and affordable community event.

Casino Night Magic: A Fundraising Extravaganza

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Casino Night Magic event on Saturday, August 10, at the Carmine Hall, starting at 6 p.m. The evening will feature a professional magic show by R.Verotti and a delicious chicken-fried-steak meal catered by Gary. Tables are available for sponsorship at 0, which includes eight meals, beverages, wine, promotion at the event, and playing chips. Individual tickets are and include playing chips, making this a must-attend event for those who love a little casino-style excitement.

Round Top-Carmine ISD: Preparing for the New School Year

The Round Top-Carmine ISD administrative offices are open until August 3, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, as the district prepares for the upcoming school year.

Martin Luther Lutheran Church: A Hub of Activity

The Martin Luther Lutheran Church (MLLC) is bustling with various activities and events. The Rebekah Group meets on Thursdays at 2 p.m., and AA meetings are held on Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. Saturday worship with Holy Communion, observing the Eighth Sunday after Pentecost, is at 6 p.m., and Sunday School is at 9 a.m. The Sunday worship service with Holy Communion is at 10 a.m., with the Praise Team leading the songs and the Noisy Offering being collected for the Cajun Navy. A Domino Party is scheduled for Monday at 1 p.m. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor at MLLC.

Meals on Wheels: Nourishing Seniors

The Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels program, operated by Combined Community Action, meets every Wednesday at the Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building in Carmine. Seniors can come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie, with food usually arriving around 10 a.m. and must be picked up by 11:30 a.m. Each box contains five meals, along with milk, dessert, and bread, at a suggested donation of (or per meal) for those aged 60 and up.

Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors' Center: Welcoming Guests

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors' Center, located at the restored Train Depot, is open on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., providing a welcoming space for visitors to learn about the community.

Recycling Trailer: Keeping Carmine Green

The recycling trailer is available in Carmine on Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Carmine Hall. Accepted items include clean No. 1 and No. 2 plastic bottles and jugs (separated), dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors of glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans. Attendants are on hand to assist with unloading.
